In Christianity, a sacrament is a special rite (ceremony). There are various views on the existence, number and meaning of such rites.
Many Christians consider the sacraments as a visible sign that God is real. They can be a way to symbolise God’s grace in a form visible to other people.
In Catholic and Orthodox Churches, there are seven recognised sacraments. These include baptism (pictured), confirmation, and marriage, among others.
Many Protestant churches see only baptism and communion as sacraments.
