A rabbi is a spiritual leader or religious teacher in Judaism.
To become a rabbi, a person must study Jewish history and text. Then, a person must be ordained by another rabbi.
The title “rabbi” was first used in the first century CE. Different denominations have different requirements for ordination. They also have different ideas about who can be recognized as a rabbi.
