Nubuwwah is an Arabic word meaning “prophethood”. In Islam, prophets are people chosen by God to guide mankind back to the path towards God.

There are many prophets in Islam. 25 prophets are mentioned by name in the Qur’an, such as Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses) and Nūḥ (Noah, pictured on Noah’s Ark).

The Qur’an says that Muhammad was the last prophet. It is believed that he was sent to share the Qur’an for all to use.

Prophets are meant to be respected but never worshipped.
