Doctrine means “a body of teachings”.

One example of Christian doctrine is that Jesus was at the same time both God and a human being.

Another example is the Trinity (the idea that there is one God experienced as three separate entities).

Sometimes a widely-agreed body of doctrine becomes what is called a creed.
