Christmas is a Christian holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. It is usually celebrated in the month of December, with the main day being Christmas Day on December 25.

The season of Advent begins on a Sunday about four weeks before Christmas. During Advent, people prepare for Christmas.

Many Christians celebrate Christmas by attending church, and with prayers and singing. Almost every church has special services or celebrations. Christmas Day is a traditional day of feasting.

The Christmas season (called Christmastide) ends 6 January, also called the Twelfth Day of Christmas. On this day, many Christians celebrate ‘’Epiphany‘’.

The gospels in the New Testament describe different aspects of the birth of Jesus (called the Nativity). The story is that he was born in a stable in Bethlehem and that his birthplace was indicated by a wandering star.

Parts of the Nativity story are remembered and celebrated in different ways at Christmas: in pictures, songs, plays, stories and with models of the stable.
