In many religions, an angel is a good spirit. The word “angel” comes from the Greek word for “messenger”.

Angels appear frequently in the Hebrew Bible, the New Testament, and the Qur’an. They are described as created by God. Some angels deliver messages to humans and prophets. Others remain with God in Paradise.

In Islam, angels are called malak or malaikah.
