Al-Ākhirah or Akirat is an Arabic term for “the Hereafter” or afterlife.

In Islamic beliefs, there will be a day when the whole universe is destroyed, called the Day of Last Judgment. On that day, ordinary life (dunya) will end.

Also on that day, the dead will be raised from their graves and God will judge them. They will receive rewards or punishments from God depending on their deeds in life. If they are rewarded, they will spend eternal life in Paradise (Jannah). If they are punished, they will be sent to the flames of Hell (Jahannam).

One can enter al-Ākhirah by living a good life according to the teachings of the Qur’an.
