Shavuot or Shavuos is a holiday celebrated by Jewish people. They celebrate it to remember the day God gave the Torah to the entire nation of Israel assembled at Mount Sinai.
It is celebrated by feasting, reading texts aloud, and studying the Talmud.
Shavuot is celebrated on the sixth day of the Hebrew month of Sivan, which may occur in May or June. It falls 49 days after Pesach (Passover).
Shavuot is celebrated in the country of Israel for one day. Jews in other places and traditions celebrate for two days, one day, or not at all.
