Seven Sacraments

The Roman Catholic Church recognises seven sacraments. These are

1. Baptism – usually given shortly after birth;
2. Confirmation – done when a child is old enough;
3. Holy Eucharist;
4. Marriage;
5. Holy orders (accepting someone as a deacon, priest, or bishop);
6. Penance (seeking and getting forgiveness of sins); and
7. Anointing of the Sick (which used to be known as Last Rites), last prayers given shortly before death.
