For Teachers

Welcome to the Interfaith Explorers Learning Resource

On this page we will be introducing you to Interfaith Explorers Learning Resource. We will be explaining the thinking behind the resource and how we have organised it in order for you and your pupils to get the most from it in your different school contexts around the country.

I'm sure by now you have read Prof Khalili’s message to teachers and parents and his letter of challenge to pupils in year 5 and 6.

Professor Khalili’s aim is for resource to promote respect and understanding between people, particularly those of the Abrahamic Faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. In order to support teachers and pupils to work towards this aim we have designed a four part resource.

Interfaith Explorers Learning Resources

Learning Unit

This first part of the resource is the Learning Unit which links learning across subjects with mapping to the National Curriculum.

In this particular Learning Unit teaching materials are provided that allow you to make choices about ensuring the right balance of pupil independent research and teacher led activity for your class.

The Learning Unit consists of an activity overview, suggestions for classroom implementation, Enquiry based learning - a Guide to Pupils’ Independent Research and subject based activities around the three faiths.

The Learning Unit has been structured in such a way to enable teachers to support pupils to develop the personal and social competencies needed in order to achieve Professor Khlili’s aim both through discrete PSHE activities and day to day learning.
