About Interfaith Explorers

Interfaith Explorers is an online resource, freely available to every school in England and Wales. This exciting resource has been commissioned by the Maimonides Foundation, a charity chaired by Professor Nasser David Khalili, that is committed to supporting harmony through dialogue. This unique collaboration with EdisonLearning Ltd combines online teacher and pupil resources with commissioned video material.

Based on the exploration of the three Abrahamic Faiths, the learning will address pupils' ability to engage with and understand the spectrum of viewpoints they will encounter throughout their schooling and adult life. The journey begins with a letter from Professor Khalili, inviting them to take up a challenge and join a voyage of exploration across the three faiths and cultures.

The resource is a six-week programme supported by comprehensive teaching plans and activities, and unprecedented access to digital versions of historic artefacts.

Teacher resources include activities about the Abrahamic Faiths so that they can approach this subject with confidence.

The learning has been constructed with end outcomes in mind and addresses the following key questions:

• If we want a better world, what questions should we challenge ourselves with?
• How do we support pupils to explore similarities and differences between themselves and the diverse communities in the UK?
• How do we encourage pupils to build life-long collaborations and friendships with people whose view on life is different than their own?
• What can schools do to help pupils engage in a journey of discovery around faith and culture?

Interfaith Explorers is about learning to understand; to seek out commonalities and celebrate differences; a cause that has the endorsement of leaders from the three Abrahamic Faiths.

Interfaith Explorers launched in London on the 29th of May 2012
